FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying result
The Super Eagles grabbed three vital points to get their world cup campaign back on track. Three points earned was Nigeria climb from 5th to 4th in the table, leapfrogging Lesotho (I know right?).
Two goals by Victor Osimhen with assists from Ademola Lookman and Samuel Chukwueze were all that were required to get the job done. A surprise lineup with both Bight Osayi-Samuel and Ola Aina in the full back positions and Ademola Lookman assisting Victor Osimhen saw the Super Eagles open with a “statement of intent goal” in the 11th minute. The first half ended with a second Osimhen goal assisted by Samuel Chukwueze.

In the second half, substitutions bringing Bruno Onyemeachi, Raphael Onedika, Alhassan Yusuf and a debut for Tolu Arokodare were all required to see the game through and rest Osimhen, Chukwueze, Aina and Bright possibly so they remain fresh for the next match on Tuesday 25th Of March against Zimbabwe in Uyo. A win there would see Nigeria climb further up the table, how high remains to be seen as table positions at the end of this FIFA international window will also be dependent on the results of other matches.
Bring on Zimbabwe, do the business and it sets us up for the next window in September
